Important pair of armchairs by French designer Jacques Adnet. Heavy, tubular iron frame makes a substantial and grounded seat. Cognac saddle leather with signature Adnet contrast stitching. Thick leather seat bottom and plush leather seat back. Leather wrapped armrests. Brass nuts and hardware. Original condition with wear as shown. Designed for and used by Air France in the 1950s and 1960s. Priced as a pair. Fantastic pieces of collectible design.

Jacques Adnet
b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
