Overview

Rare white space age chairs. Designed by Mid Century Modern designer John Gale.

Patented in 1963, each one has patent number stamped and John Gale logo. Design was used to develop rotocast technology which was used later in the 1960s on other high production John Gale designs. Rotocast process involves a heated hollow mold which is filled with a charge or shot weight of material. It is then slowly rotated, causing the softened material to disperse and stick to the walls of the mold.

Scratches and wear consistent with age. Set of four chairs, sold together. Perfect for a patio or outdoor space.

Located in our Los Angeles Gallery.

Designer Notes
John Gale
John Gale was an American mid-century furniture designer, best known for his Atomic Age Rotocast Chairs, designed and patented in 1963. His designs are trademarked by his use of plastic, their durability, and their soft edges. Gale was inspired by the birth of his son to design furniture which was lightweight, indestructible, and devoid of any sharp edges that might cause discomfort. In 1965 his company turned to designing children's furniture, utilizing the same materials and approach to ergonomics as his famous series of Rotocast Chairs.
