Rare leather and iron armchair by French designer Jacques Adnet. Entire chair is wrapped in hand stitched leather. Brass capped feet and brass hardware detailing on chair backs. Seat bottom, seat back, arms, and frame detailing all wrapped in leather. Signature Adnet contrast stitching. Good vintage condition. Gorgeous piece of collectible design.

Jacques Adnet

b. 1900

Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
