Monumental Art Deco era desk by French Modernist designer Jacques Adnet. Black iron 'A' frame with 4 angled iron legs. Solid oak table top wrapped in black leather with brass studs provides an ample writing surface. Smaller shelves made of walnut slats flank both sides for more storage. A single maple drawer pulls out from the center of the desk with a large black leather handle. Drawer is deep and is covered at the back by a leather flap. Completely original with fantastic patina and color. A beautiful example of Jacques Adnet's designs. Great for any office. Extremely collectible piece of Jacques Adnet design.

Jacques Adnet
b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
