Great illuminated "X-RAY ON" warning sign, once mounted above the door of a hospital or clinic radiology suite to signal when equipment was active. The bold red stenciled lettering glows against an amber panel when lit, powered by an internal bulb. Also has a lens underneath the sign, allowing for an additional light source to shine through. Housed in a simple painted metal case with a beveled glass lens, the sign has great character and patina of decades of institutional service. Newly rewired. Fun piece for a collector of medical or industrial ephemera, or as a graphic statement piece within a design scheme drawing on mid-century institutional or apothecary style.
