Great table lighter cast in the unmistakable silhouette of a twin-engine fighter jet — swept delta wings, a sharply pointed nose cone, and twin canted tail fins reminiscent of the F-15 Eagle. Rendered in a lustrous chromed pewter-tone finish with fine engraved panel lines along the fuselage and wings, the model reads as much like a piece of sculptural desk art as it does a functional object. The lighter mechanism itself is cleverly integrated into the aircraft's spine just aft of the cockpit, with a knurled flint wheel, hinged flip cap, and a small adjustment screw for the flame. The undercarriage has three free-spinning wheels beneath the nose and wings let the jet be rolled across a bar or credenza, a small mechanical flourish typical of the playful, well-made novelty items produced in Japan during this period.
