Designer Notes
Hermès
est. 1837
Established in 1837 in Paris, Hermès is the oldest luxury fashion house still in operation today. The company began producing saddles and other equestrian supplies for European noblemen. During the 1920s the brand began designing and producing clothing and accessories for men and women and during the 1930s, Hermès introduced some of its most universally recognized goods such as the leather "Sac à dépêches" in 1935 which was later renamed the "Kelly bag" after Grace Kelly, and the Hermès carrés (square scarves) in 1937. Today Hermès remains one of the most well respected fashion houses across the globe producing some of the most coveted goods in the world.
