An exceptional example of Swiss design's most audacious sofa: the De Sede DS-600, affectionately nicknamed the "Non-Stop" or "Caterpillar" sofa. Conceived in 1972 by a four-person design collective for De Sede, the DS-600 broke every rule of what a sofa was supposed to be — rather than a fixed frame, it is built from an endless chain of individually upholstered, cushion-like segments, each riding on its own hidden caster. The result is a sofa with no beginning and no end: segments can be linked, unlinked, and rearranged endlessly to snake through a room, wrap a corner, coil into a circle, or stretch the full length of a wall. This example is dressed in a rich cognac leather that has developed a beautiful, lived-in patina over the decades — deep creasing, soft sheen, and warm tonal variation that only genuine full-grain leather acquires with age and use.  A true icon of postmodern Swiss furniture design and a piece from the permanent collections of major design museums, the DS-600 remains one of the most collectible and instantly recognizable sofas of the 20th century.
