Designer Notes
Ludwig Walser
b. 1936
Ludwig Walser (1936-2016) was a student at Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich, and a pupil of Willy Guhl's. In collaboration with the Swiss design house Eternit, Guhl's students designed outdoor furniture using his signature fiber cement material. Walser's design for the class was a short garden stool with convex walls and a concave support. Informed by Walser's design, Eternit began to produce the stool, which is now an icon of modern furniture design.
