Color Block Oil Painting of Ken Griffey Jr.
This one's for the baseball lover in your life. Massive 4 foot x 6 foot painting. An original signed oil painting of Hall of Famer and 13-time All Star Ken Griffey Jr. With a left-handed bat, acrobatic catches, and a smile that lit up the field, Junior became the face of the Seattle Mariners and helped redefine what it meant to be a sports superstar in the '90s.
The artist Eric Black released a series of lithographic prints based on this design, leaving this oil painting to stand alone as an original work. With careful brushstrokes and color blocking, Junior emerges from the canvas donning his teal Mariners jersey. His gaze upwards and his bat dragging afoot, it appears as though he has just swung, and is watching the path of the flying ball with anticipation. The color blocking in the background is a motif of the field, sky, and stadium. A small black scuff is present near the center of the painting, otherwise in great condition. The canvas has been removed from its original stretching bars, so it may be re-stretched or framed.
