Ceramic Stool
Amazing ceramic garden stool by California potter Stan Bitters for Hans Sumpf. Known for his sculptural, architectural stoneware furniture and planters from the 1960s-70s. This piece has Bitters' signature hourglass silhouette. The flat circular top is glazed in a contrasting oatmeal/sand tone and inset with an abstract geometric motif: a large diamond or kite shape rendered in the same brown glaze as the body, outlined against the pale top surface. Solid and substantial, this piece works equally well as an indoor side table, plant stand, or occasional stool, and would suit a mid-century modern, California modern, or organic-textural interior. Some wear as shown. Presents beautifully. Fantastic piece of collectible design.
