Stunning Carrara marble side table designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper in the 1970s. Large cone shaped base holds a large water lily shaped slab of marble with a circular cut out which fits around the top of the base. Extremely heavy and well made. White and blue/grey veins run throughout the Carrara marble. Very good vintage condition. Very light scuffs on feet. 3 available in this size. Priced individually. Taller matching table available in separate listing.

Angelo Mangiarotti
b. 1921
Architect, designer and sculptor Angelo Mangiarotti was born in Milan in 1921 and received his degree in Architecture from the Milan Politechnic. In 1953 he spent time as a visiting professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology following which, Mangiarotti returned to Milan to found a design firm with his colleague Bruno Morassutti. In 1965 he was among the founding members of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in Italy. In 1994 he received the Compasso d'Oro award of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale for his lifetime of achievement and Died in his hometown of Milan, Italy in 2012.
