Neck is attached at the base and at the top with a brass ball joint which gives it an array of positions you can adjust it to. The frame is completely wrapped in a black leather with brass accents. Signature Adnet contrast stitching around the base. Illuminates beautifully and has a wide base giving it perfect stability. Light patina to the leather with wear as shown. Calendar is adjusted by hand showing the day, month and year. Original European socket newly rewired for the US. Good vintage condition.

b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
