Elegant black marble "Loico" bookshelf by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper. Fully constructed out of Nero Marquina (Black Marble). Made with 4 cylindrical pillars and four hand-fitted rectangular shelves. Two pillars stack on each side and the shelves slide in to the 4 grooves. White and grey veins run throughout the marble. Thin crack on lowest shelf. Some chips and wear throughout as shown. Important piece of collectible design.

Angelo Mangiarotti
b. 1921
Architect, designer and sculptor Angelo Mangiarotti was born in Milan in 1921 and received his degree in Architecture from the Milan Politechnic. In 1953 he spent time as a visiting professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology following which, Mangiarotti returned to Milan to found a design firm with his colleague Bruno Morassutti. In 1965 he was among the founding members of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in Italy. In 1994 he received the Compasso d'Oro award of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale for his lifetime of achievement and Died in his hometown of Milan, Italy in 2012.
