Stunning and rare Jacques Adnet storage bench in green leather and solid oak. Heavy and well built, strong enough to hold multiple people sitting on it and very roomy inside to place items in. Perfectly proportioned French modernist design. Brass accents throughout. Body made of thick slabs of oak painted black on the outside but showing their natural color within. Bench lid is cushioned and wrapped in a green leather with beautiful patina. Legs also wrapped in green leather with brass rings. Every strip of leather on this piece features the iconic Adnet contrast stitching. Two green leather straps attached from within the chest hold the lid open. Very well preserved and in good original condition with wear as shown. Extremely collectible piece of Jacques Adnet furniture. Perfect at the end of the bed. Likely the one on the planet for sale.

b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
