Stunning coat stand / valet by French modernist designer, Jacques Adnet. Valet has an iron frame with brass accents including brass ball feet, brass ball at the end of the pant rod and a large brass ball adorning the top of the valet. Entire frame is completely wrapped in a saddle leather and every seam features the signature Adnet contrast stitching. Beautiful vintage condition. Great piece of collectible design. Jacques Adnet
b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
