Handsome green leather and frosted glass ashtray from the 1950s by seminal French Art Deco modernist designer Jacques Adnet. The inside part of the glass receiver is frosted and surrounded with a green textured leather strap with Adnet's signature contrast saddle stitch. Its shape and depth also allows it to be used as the perfect catchall or desk tidy. Perfect desk accessory to compliment any modernist interior. Great vintage condition.

Jacques Adnet
b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
