Beautiful Jacques Adnet leather table lamp with brown ceramic ashtray/catchall inset into the base. Metal frame completely wrapped in a tan saddle leather. Lamp is on a ball socket allowing the light to be pointed in different directions. Signature Adnet contrast stitching throughout. Illuminates beautifully and the base functions perfectly as an ashtray or a small catchall. Perfect patina to the leather with wear as shown. Original European socket newly rewired for the US. Good vintage condition.

b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
