Incredible umbrella stand by Jacques Adnet. Iron frame fully wrapped in saddle leather with all seams stitched together with Adnet's signature contrast stitching. Equestrian motif with the base in the shape of a brass studded horseshoe. The upper ring mirrors the base's U shape in order to secure umbrellas. Great, functional piece of collectible Adnet design. Great vintage condition.

b. 1900
Jacques Adnet, born on the 20th of April 1900, was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer. As one of the Godfathers of modern French design his pieces have become highly sought after and collectible pieces which grace most major furniture collections around the world. He believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. From 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais during which time he partnered with Hermès to produce a collection of leather-covered furniture and accessories. Known for his mastery in incorporating precious woods, metal and leather into simple, elevated and timeless designs which would stand the test of time.
