Overview

A rare and exceptional refinished Honduran Mahogany 'Taliesin' platform nightstand (or side table / end table) was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Heritage-Henredon in 1955 and produced only for two years, therefore is now a highly sought-after and rare collectors item. This example is signed with the Heritage-Henredon by Frank Lloyd Wright engraved signature in the drawer.

This rare Frank Lloyd Wright nightstand, which also functions excellently as a side or end table, features an upper platform with one compartment underneath and single drawer all situated on top of a cruciform base. Also features three discreetly hidden working plug sockets attached to the underside of the lower compartment, with a single square cutout for cables to exit the back of the piece.

Frank Lloyd Wright stated that one of his goals for this line was for the “design to make the home more efficient as well as more beautiful”. Woven into each piece of this series was his iconic chamfered wood edge with an abstracted Greek key motif, the signature detail of every Taliesin design, covering the edges of each item in the collection. All of the pieces were executed in Honduran Mahogany, a high-end luxury wood choice.

A beautiful and iconic piece of furniture designed by arguably one of the worlds most seminal and influential architects of our time.

Designer Notes
Frank Lloyd Wright
b. 1867
Frank Lloyd Wright was a pioneering American architect and designer, and one of the most influential figures in the history of modern architecture. Renowned for his innovative and organic approach to design, Wright's career spanned over seven decades, during which he created iconic structures such as Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum. He championed the concept of "organic architecture," emphasizing harmony between human habitation and the natural world, evident in his use of open spaces, geometric forms, and integration with the surrounding environment. Wright's prolific output, characterized by his distinctive Prairie School style, has left an enduring legacy, shaping the trajectory of architectural thought and practice well into the 20th century.
