Overview

Vintage cotton flag for the "Camp Fire Girls", the sister organization to the Boy Scouts of America. Camp Fire was the first nonsectarian, multiracial organization for girls founded by Dr. and Mrs. Luther Halsey Gulick in 1910. The skills required to be a Camp Fire Girl included “mend a pair of stockings” and “commit to memory any good poem or song,” but they also required girls to know how to handle basic medical emergencies and “to know the career of some woman who has done much for the country or state.”

A fun piece of American history. Great coloring and patina to flag. Newly framed and mounted and ready to hang.

Located in our Los Angeles Gallery.
