Overview
Stunning concrete planter by Swiss architect Willy Guhl. An iteration of his iconic handkerchief planter but as opposed to the traditional low profile handkerchief with wide leaf-like arms, this planter comes with massive prongs standing erect giving this piece a eye catching height and presence. A magnificent design whose structure makes it resemble the prongs of a crown. Each of the 4 main spires shoot up to an impressive 36" off the ground and are contrasted perfectly by the 4 lower delicate ribbon spouts. Both planters pictured here are in a cream paint finish with varying levels of patina and lichen. Versatile coloring and impactful presence make these planters a beautiful and elevated addition to any home. Factory drilled drainage holes in the base. Great scale and in good vintage condition.

Willy Guhl
b. 1915
Willy Guhl was a Swiss industrial designer, who in the mid-20th century pioneered the application of utilitarian materials, notably concrete, in modern outdoor furniture design, such as his in the design of his iconic Loop Chair. His designs, marked by clean lines and functional elegance, reflect a commitment to both beauty and use. Guhl's design and creative use of materials contributed to a redefinition of the aesthetic and functional possibilities of concrete in design during the mid-20th century.
